The Natural Beauty

My overall experience with Eyelash extensions by Elluminize was in one word “awesome”! I am officially an addict! They lasted longer than I ever expected. After hearing from friends who received their’s from other places that they needed fill’s every two weeks. Elluminize lashes lasted 5 weeks easily. Even after multiple fashion shoots, workouts in 100 degree plus weather, swimming, boating, etc. Trust me I put these babies to the test.

They did not irritate my sensitive eyes, not in the least. They do take a little getting used to care wise i.e. no rubbing, no applying normal eye makeup remover etc. I easily adjusted within a week. Even that is a plus though because you are actually taking better care of the skin around your eyes. To remove eye make-up Q-tips were my best friend & due to being careful I was much more effective at removing it! No need for mascara, which was even better! Less debris collecting around the eyes. I noticed the delicate skin around my eyes even improved dramatically. So beside looking like I have phenomenally long natural lashes, the health of the skin around my eyes improved! Less dark circles due to make-up build up & less defined lines due to the debris collecting around the area.

The look of the extensions just kept getting better as the lashes grew. They stay in tact & I was still getting compliments on my lashes 4 weeks after application. Her extensive training & attention to detail definitely shows in her work. Worth every penny for a high quality product/service that lasts even under the harshest conditions of a busy lifestyle! Love, love, love!!!

The Sophisticate

The fourth week of eyelash wear was fairly uneventful, and I mean that in the best possible way. After nearly a month of eyelash wear, I feel as though I know what to expect regarding my extensions. Though I’ve been sweating and working out more than ever, shedding appears to be minimal.

The Hollywood Knock Out

My eyelashes are still looking amazing. There were about 6 that fell out this week and they still look nice and full. I tend to work out and run a lot and haven’t had any problems with them falling out too much. You’d think in this heavy Texas heat that it would make my eyelashes fall out a lot easier running around the lake multiple times with sweat dripping down my face but they still look great. The other day though I went to an appointment and the girl that took care of me told me she loved how every time I come in my lashes look amazing. This is the second time she’s seen me since I’ve had them. I did one boudoir shoot a couple weeks ago with my lashes and felt amazingly gorgeous.

Special Note from Rachel

This is my final entry for the Elluminize Eyelash Menu, and since I don’t have much more to say regarding the eyelashes themselves, I’d like to thank the Elluminize team for helping to make this project an enjoyable experience:

First off, it was a pleasure to meet and work beside the other eyelash models, Nicole Mendlik and Teresa Miranda—both interesting and beautiful women with rich, complete lives of their own. Teresa and Nicole: thanks for your camaraderie. It made the Eyelash Menu seem more like a group effort than a solo project.

Secondly, I’d like to thank DONbg Photo Design, our talented photographer, for his patience. I admittedly have little experience in front of the camera, but I needn’t have worried; DONbg has a way of making his models feel completely at ease. And though I have not yet seen the pictures, I expect nothing but the best.

Lastly, I’d like to thank Ize Calina, the owner and mastermind behind Elluminize, for her positivity and dedication to the project. As a fellow small business owner, it has been inspiring to watch her vision reach fruition.

Thank you, Rachel for the sweet comment.  I want to thank Teresa Miranda, Rachel Brownlow, Nicole Mendlik and DONbg Photo for being amazing for the past 5 weeks!  it was like we had a weekly family meeting.  I love every one so much and thank you form the bottom of my heart and thank you for making my vision come alive!!!                             -Ize Calina

Important Questions to Ask When Choosing Your Lash Stylist

October 19, 2011 § Leave a comment

If, as the traditional proverb so eloquently states, “the eyes are the windows of the soul,” then it makes sense that you wouldn’t let just anyone apply your lash extensions. Here are a few important questions to ask when searching for a well-qualified eyelash extension specialist.

1) Is the lash stylist a certified eyelash extension technician?

In 2009, Texas passed a law mandating that all practicing eyelash extension technicians first be registered in cosmetology or esthetics. Though the law was intended to protect our eyes, it still does not require that practicing lash stylists be certified in eyelash extension application. Because you want only the most qualified candidates to handle your eyes, it’s smart to inquire whether your cosmetologist or esthetician is also certified in eyelash extension application.

2) How much experience does the eyelash technician have?

To become a certified eyelash technician, trainees must complete one eight-hour day of training that covers sanitation, general procedures, eyelash maintenance and risk management. That’s it. One day. That’s why it’s important to ask what the trainee has done outside of class to hone his or her skills.

Applying extensions is a service that requires patience, steady hands, and a perfectionist mentality; make sure that your technician possesses these qualities.

3) What type of eyewear will you be using?

Imagine applying eyelashes all day long for four to eight hours per day. Sooner or later, the precision of eyelash application is sure to cause strain to your eyes. By wearing the proper eye protection, however, lash stylists can improve accuracy and avoid eyestrain.

Ize Calina, certified eyelash technician and owner of Elluminze, habitually uses proper eyewear when applying lashes to her customers. This not only protects her eyes, but it also gives her 100 percent accuracy—ensuring that you receive luscious lashes every time.

So far they are awesome. I still have had minimal loss & still getting compliments on my lashes. I cannot express how nice it is to not wear mascara! I am pretty sure I am hooked on eyelash extensions with Ize!!! Love them, love them!!! What is even better they last!!!! No need for fills every 2 weeks!! We are on week 3 and they still look fab!!!

The Sophisticate

I’ve been wearing eyelash extensions for three weeks. At this point, I have retained enough lashes so that—in passing—they still appear long and luxurious; but if you look closely, you might be able to detect the shorter lashes from the longer ones.

The Hollywood Knock Out

This past weekend I went to Las Vegas and it was like eyelash extension heaven. I swear, every girl had eyelash extensions. But the worst part was that you could totally tell they were fake. They looked so thick and unreal. My lashes looked a million times better because they look natural but still long and gorgeous. There are so many of them which makes them look absolutely gorgeous.

What Sets Elluminize Apart?

October 13, 2011 § Leave a comment

*Adhesive—After trying eight different adhesives, we finally found the best of the best! Our medical-grade adhesive is the safest and highest performing adhesive on the market. Manufactured in the United States, our adhesive is designed for maximum bonding strength using pulverized rubber polymers for superior flexibility and bonding. In fact, it’s so flexible and lightweight that most people don’t even feel their extensions! Our adhesive is also formaldehyde and fume free in which it will result in less eye irritation.

*Synthetic Eyelash Extensions–The right eyelash material and design can mean the difference between having healthy, natural-looking eyelashes and having stressed, fake-looking lashes. At Elluminize, we want the best for our clients. In order to prevent stress to your natural eyelashes, Elluminize’s extensions are designed to mimic natural lashes from base to tip in both look and feel. We use only .15mm extensions, the perfect length to give you a natural look while simultaneously preventing premature fallouts and breakage. Unlike polyester lashes, which are coarser and lack flexibility, our synthetic lash extensions mimic your natural lashes, giving you a sophisticated look and longer usage.

*Design Technique—At Elluminize, our goal is to give each client sophisticated, glamorous eyelash extensions. That’s why we customize our work according to each client’s personal style, lifestyle, eye shape, and facial structure. To achieve a naturally voluminous look, Elluminize mixes different lash extension curvatures (c, d, J and b curve) with different lengths (6mm to 15mm) throughout your design. By mixing lengths and curvatures, we create length and volume without using heavier extensions that can damage your natural eyelashes or create an artificial look.
