Let me just say: Wow! Yes, it’s true— Elluminize is going to the 2013 American Music Awards at the Nokia Center in Los Angeles on November 23!
Yes, you read that correctly! We’re going to present our lashes to celebrities!
When this opportunity was first presented to me, I thought it was a joke. In fact, I was about to delete the email when a small voice in the back of my head urged me to take another look.
So I did; and then I responded.
Soon later, something completely unexpected happened: The young woman who initially contacted me responded back.
Here’s what she said:
For each event that we do, we create a theme for the event and invite only the types of companies that we’d like to showcase at the show. We wanted to include an eyelash extension/beauty company at the event, so we did extensive research on about 50 different companies. Of those companies, we only selected 2 to contact- your company and a different false eyelash company. We are extremely selective, and we like to have product category exclusivity at our events. Meaning that if you attend our show, we will probably not have another eyelash company there also, as to eliminate competition. I absolutely love the fact that your eyelash extensions are mink and customized. Celebrities want luxury, high-end, glamorous products, especially if it’s going on their eyes, and Elluminize fits that criteria perfectly…”
I finished reading, speechless.
“Okay, maybe this is not a joke,” I thought to myself.
A week later, and I am still in shock. Over the moon, yes, but in shock nonetheless.
Over the years, Elluminize has been my own personal rags-to-riches story. I started the company with a few hundred dollars in my pocket and a mission to apply the most realistic multi-dimensional eyelash extensions to my clients. I never got a bank loan or paid excessive amounts for advertising, but now, somehow, we’ve made it to the big-time!
It’s moments like these that make me feel blessed and humbled. The universe truly does reward patience, faith and hard work.
