Your 2016 Drop Down Earring Guide

June 30, 2016 § Leave a comment

UnknownYour jewelry collection: filled with statement necklaces and arm-party worthy bracelets and watches, but your minuscule compilation of earrings are assembling in revolt.

It’s time they had their 15 minutes.

But where to start? With earrings there are a so many options, it can start to feel overwhelming–perhaps adding to our avoidance of the accessory all together. But from the stud, to the dangle, the chandelier, to the threader; we found that the biggest statement for 2016 was to be found within the style of the drop down earring.

Screen Shot 2016-04-11 at 12.16.23 PM·The tassel. Inspired by the Art Deco periods of the 20s and 30s, tassel earrings are a classic. This season it’s all about bright pops of colors, and the thickest tassels. Look for a pair with detailing at the top for something extra.

·The balanced. This style is a very structured earring, typically protruding away from the ear. It can have a metal bar, or rows of shimmering cubic stones. An elegant pearl or diamond at the end makes this a beautiful going-out piece that’s well worth the money.

·The back-drop. Earrings with detailed backs isn’t a new concept, but that doesn’t mean they don’t impress. The big idea with this one, though, is to keep it minimalistic! Elegance is key. Try a style with a colored stone for a daytime earring that will wow!

·The geometric. Geometric shapes have been big in all sorts of jewelry lately, and that definitely doesn’t stop at the earring. All the styles above can have geometric shapes included. Or you can just make a specific shape the star of your look.

2016 is the year of the earring. Over-the-top statements were being made on the ears of models all over the runways. If you’re wanting to get ahead on the trend, try mixing the colors of your drop-downs; one tassel may be red, and the other blue. Or if you’re feeling extra adventurous, opt for an all-out, single ear show. Let us know how you’ll wear it!

Breaking News: French Tips Are Back!

June 23, 2016 § Leave a comment

France is the epitome of style, the birth place of elegance, fashion, and totally not the French manicure. In fact, the French manicure was created in Calabasss, California where Jeff Pink, the creator of Orly nails chose the name for his “signature” manicure. And from the 90s on, it gained mass popularity. Within recent years the uniform look has taken a bit of a downturn, being replaced by dramatic, over-the-top designs. But it is back! Featured on the 2016 runways, the French manicure has been given new life in a variety of ways.

·Continuing with the “blank space” trend, Tibi showed classic white tips with a blank base. For an extra edge, a clean line was wiped clean from the center of each nail.

cb94a76d7ac5b6265f3f252a65612859·Everybody loves their long nails, and Gucci this season gave them to you! With red tips and a neutral base, this is a great way to use a French manicure for a pop of color!

·Another big trend in nail design was modern art! Whimsical brush strokes can definitely be a fun manicure! Keep these nails from looking too messy by only doing the design on the tips of the nail like these at Zero and Maria Cornejo.

·Let your nails can be your new statement piece. Monique Lhuillier had bright colors that matched all the model’s make-up! We love this idea for a fun daytime look.

These ideas are all a great way to break-away from the traditional and have some fun with your nails. How will you wear the new French manicure? Let us know in the comments!

Is this the bikini of the Summer?

June 14, 2016 § Leave a comment

“To enhance the powers, mix the KIINIs with sun and water.”

KIINI Bikin collage

Straight from your favorite celebrities to you, KIINI is the must-have swimwear line of the season. From Turkish designer Ipek Irgit, the made in NYC, hand-crocheted, one of a kind bikinis are said to have “superpowers.”

And we can see why, just one look at the bright pops of colors, modern bohemian patterns, and simple triangle cuts make summer magically come into existence in the forefront of our minds. And better yet, these bikinis forgo the ties or clasps seen on typical swimwear of its kind. KIINI offers a comfortable elastic band, sure to not offer any unwanted peep-shows. However, this luxury does come at a price, most bikinis will set you back about $285. But after seeing them on the likes of Cara Delevingne, Bar Rafaeli, Ashley Benson, and blogger Chiara Ferragni… we’re starting to feel like it’s worth it.

As far as styling, these admirable creations look best in the water. But when on land try pairing them with a flowing kimono, your snuggest cut offs, and your favorite sunnies! As an added touch, we are loving our swimwear completed with a vibrant turban for the 2016 summer holidays!

Look below to see how these Insta-Babes wore it:

Summer Jackets

June 9, 2016 § Leave a comment

Screen Shot 2016-04-18 at 5kljhlkEveryone has their favorite winter coat. Maybe yours is a snug trench, or that vintage faux fur you just fell in love with. But what about the summer? Are we missing something? Jackets are a major style statement, one that we typically forgo in the hot summer days, unless we’re stuck in our freezing office building all day–but not anymore.

We did some digging, and found some great hot-weather jacket options.

Screen Shot 2016-04-18 at 3.44.00 PM

·A classic denim jacket can be great for this season. Although many are made of a thick material, denim allows the skin to breathe through the layers. A long-line denim duster jacket paired with a crisp white top and denim flares, is a fiercely casual look for the summer.

Screen Shot 2016-04-18 at 3.44.49 PM

·The femme bomber. During the winter the bomber style was made in a thick silk material; but for the summer it’s transitioned–in a more sheer direction. This classic cut hasn’t gone out for style since the 80s, and I don’t see it happening very soon.

Screen Shot 2016-04-18 at 3.44.24 PM

·Give a chic vest a go. Vests are a great way to add an extra layer to your look, without feeling like you’ve actually added an extra layer. A great styling tip is wearing an off-the-shoulder top underneath, creating a “peek-a-boo” effect on the shoulders. Again, stick with the longer cuts for this season.

Screen Shot 2016-04-18 at 3.49.10 PM

·A soft trench, making the structured classic a little more casual. The soft trench is usually made of an obscure fabric called lyocell, designed to stay cool no matter how long you wear it. This jacket looks great with a pair of cut-offs and a feminine silk button-down!

Screen Shot 2016-04-18 at 3.50.45 PM

·Flowing kimonos are a great way to beat the heat. Wafting air around the body with every step not only gives your everyday catwalk a bit of flare, it will keep you cool even when outdoors. Kimonos can be paired with everything from a little black dress to a casual pair of skinny jeans.

There’s this seasons best jacket options! Let us know which one you’ll be wearing!
