Transcending Style: Early 2000s

June 29, 2017 § Leave a comment

So close, yet so far away. Fashion of the 2000s seems dated at best–denim skirts, bedazzled t shirts, and jeans that rode just a little bit too low. But there are plenty of ways to incorporate your favorite fashion memories into your wardrobe!

Here’s how to bring early 2000s trends into this decade.

·The best trend of the early 2000s was no doubt the chokers. Though they were made of cheap plastics back them, the detailed designs could be worn the same way today. Look for ‘blank space’ chokers to really get the look!

·Oh the dramatic belt. These were large, in charge, and very often–sparkly. While we’re not suggestion you try to fit a belt like this through the tiny belt loops of today’s jeans, you can definitely wear this piece with a dress! A flowing printed dress that has a natural waist line just begs for a great belt! So why not make it oversized? This is a great way to make a statement with very little effort.

·This one will make you cringe–a dress with jeans. But we promise, this can be cool! The trick is to not cover up your natural waist, that’s when this look will swallow you whole. Forget the bohemian inspired dresses of the early 2000s and opt for something a little bit edgier. The best way to wear this look is to take your favorite pair of skinny jeans, a simple bralette, and a sheer dress or slip, add a pair of heels and you’re read to go! This will show just the right amount of skin, display your curves, and give you a unique ‘going out’ outfit!
